Our new ultrasound unit is one of the latest and most detailed units available. It will allow us to scan tendons and ligaments so we may diagnose and measure tears or an inflamed structure. It will penetrate limbs and backs to diagnose muscle tears or fractures as well. The unit has additional probes to evaluate horses’ lungs and abdomens. We can evaluate kidneys, bowel, and perform ultrasound guided biopsies. In addition, a probe will allow us to view your horses’ heart and evaluate whether or not the size and structure are within normal. The scan report may be copied on to a CD for further comparisons and as part of the horses’ medical record. It also can be e-mailed to owners or other professionals. A separate ultrasound unit is also available for all of our reproductive evaluations.)
